How much should I pay a digital marketing agency?
For a small business in the Richmond area, ongoing digital marketing typically runs somewhere between $1,000 and $5,000 a month depending on how many channels are in play and whether paid media is included. Our own published starting points are $1,200 a month for content, $1,800 a month for full management, $950 for a one-time brand strategy engagement, and $2,800 for a website build. Ad spend is separate and goes straight to the platform on your own card.
What is the average fee for a digital marketing agency?
Agencies price three ways: a monthly retainer, a per-project fee, or a percentage of ad spend. Retainers are the most common for ongoing work. The percentage-of-spend model is worth questioning, because it pays the agency more for spending more of your money regardless of whether it worked. We use flat retainers and fixed project fees so the incentive stays pointed at the result rather than the invoice.
Do I need all of this at once?
Almost nobody does. Most engagements start with whichever piece is most broken — usually the Google Business Profile or the website — and widen once that is fixed. We would rather do one thing properly and earn the next conversation than sell you a bundle you are not ready to use.
How long before it does anything?
Listing and profile work often moves within a few weeks, because you are repairing something that was broken rather than building from nothing. Organic search and social take longer: expect around three months before the pattern is readable and six before it compounds. Paid campaigns generate data immediately, though the first month is mostly learning which audience responds. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is selling you something.
Are you actually based in Richmond?
Yes. We are a three-person team based in Richmond and we work across central Virginia — Chesterfield, Henrico, Colonial Heights, Midlothian, Chester, Petersburg, Hopewell, Glen Allen and Short Pump. When we need photographs of your business, we drive there. We also take remote clients elsewhere in the country, and we will tell you plainly when being local matters to the work and when it does not.
